Matthias Schlitte

Hey guys,

today I will host together with Alexander Von der Groeben, a former Judoka and now host of big boxing events in Germany, the armwrestling show “International Armwrestling” on Eurosport. I will comment it live in a studio in Hamburg. The show starts at 8.30 P.M. (German Time). So watch it ;-)

Armwrestling : 22. German Championships / Long night for the man from the middle of Germany

Bebertal ( dei ). On Sunday at 0.30 a.m.Matthias Schlitte had made it: the Armwrestler from the VfL Wolfsburg got his fourth title!

On Saturday, the 22nd, German Armwrestling Championships took place in the city of Haltern. More than 130 sportsmen came to the city in the area of Recklinghausen, to find the new German champions. Matthias Schlitte won the title in the category under 70 kg in 2008, after his victories at the New-Years-Cup in Blackburn/ England at the end of January he decided to compete in the higher category up to 75 kg.
Schlitte competed with 69 kg in this class. In the first two rounds Matthias beat two very strong armwrestlers: the German champion Albert Weingart from Munich and the former vice-worldchampion Udo Weiß (Frankfurt/Oder ).

In the semifinal Matthias won in a hard war against the man from Hamburg – Alexander Pudov.
His opponent in the final was Udo Weiß again. Schlitte could beat Weiß once again in a long, hard fight!
The man from Bebertal won his 4th title!

“I am so happy. I can not believe that I won in the higher class”, said Matthias Schlitte about the victory.

Armwrestling Bundesliga 2009

Last saturday I participated on the first gameday of the German National Armwrestling League 2009 in Wolfsburg. Starting in the senior class up to 70kg I managed to earn 3 points (one for each victory in three total fights). My team mates from “Team North” fought well, too, but against hard opponents from “Team East” only some where able to get a lot of points.

Many well-known armwrestlers participated in the tournament or showed up at the event – nobody less than Udo Weiss, André Riske, Dirk Schenker and Bill Frank amonst many others!

So in the end my team managed to win with a total score of 22 vs. 20! One victory less would have cost the win!

In the media-section “Media” you can find many pictures and videos of the event, taken by Florian Bäthge, a good friend of mine, who also designed this website!
